environment configuration

Walk you through the nepenthes environment setting up and configurations.

prerequisites

Please make sure you have downloaded all the necessary softwares from the last web page. In order to make the guides synchronized,we recommend strongly to download all the softwares from the local download. You should be very familiar with MySQL and Tomcat, regardless its using or tunning.

database

  1. Double click mysql-5.6.24-osx10.9-x86_64.dmg to install;
  2. Change MySQL configuration to using UTF-8 encodding;
  3. Open Terminal,navigate to /usr/local/mysql/support-files
    • Start MySQL Server: sudo ./mysql.server start
    • Stop MySQL Server: sudo ./mysql.server stop
    • Restart MySQL Server: sudo ./mysql.server restart
    • Status of MySQL Server: sudo ./mysql.server status

Web Server

  1. Unzip apache-tomcat-7.0.55.zip
  2. Copy the unzipped folder to /usr/local
  3. Change the whole folder to 555 permission with command: chmod
  4. Open Terminal and navigate to /usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0.55/bin
    • Start Tomcat: sudo ./startup.sh
    • Stop Tomcat: sudo ./shutdownload.sh
